Being threatened with violence (some peoples children)

My week so far: Being threatened with violence

This last week I’ve had some:

  • Interesting challenges.
  • Silly situations.
  • Bubbling rage.

Sometimes even with the best of intentions we can be misunderstood.

I share this openly to give you a glimpse of my “human-ness”.

I had a man interested in my retreats that was a struggling alcoholic, jobless, and being kept away from his kids.

He became suicidal, and was feeling very alone… so naturally I chose to support him.

  • Check in texts.
  • Reminders of future retreat dates.
  • A call here or there to say hello.

Things were going great. He was very appreciative and receptive of my support.

Then – I offered to let him join a call for my Brother to Brother group to see if it would be a good fit.

Understanding he was in a tight spot financially… but realizing he couldn’t afford not to invest in himself as things were rough.

The call went great. He was very interested, and so I let him know that there was a cost associated.

For two reasons:

  1. People who pay, pay attention. Free resources often do jack shit because people don’t value them. When we invest in ourselves, and have skin in the game… real change occurs.
  2. I offer a great amount of resources, time, and support to that group. I choose to charge a very small amount for in comparison.

Remember – he didn’t have to join. I was simply offering him more support if he so choose to accept.

Anyhow long story short… he lost his shit.

He began to harass me over text, social media, and threaten me.

“I’m gonna f** drive down there and beat the s* out of you. You stupid horrible man. You stupid motherf**er. Also, i’m gonna f*** your mom and your wife.”

That was one small piece of a text I received. He was so offended that I would charge money for a support group.

Remember: Hurt people hurt people. I try not to take it personal. Some people try to put others down to cope with their pain.

It took everything in my power not to revert back to my old ways of violence… so that’s a win.

More fuel for me to channel into my projects.

How’s your week haha?

What I am working on

In my personal life: I am using the skills, and tools I’ve developed to support myself through a challenging time.

Weight training.

Breathwork.

Journaling.

Meditation.

Prayer.

Walks.

You get the idea.

What a beautiful opportunity for growth, and practicing what I preach.

In my professional life: Deadlines drive results.

I set a deadline this week to launch my free Get Shit Done System… so that’s in progress. You can join the waitlist at the end of this email if you want.

In Austin (where I live now) I am still hunting for additional income opportunities through remote work, real estate, and in person events.

My local group is set to open in the next week or so. I am pretty damn excited!

I am on day 17 out of 365 of posting short videos daily… I’ve been sharpening my skills across the board.

What are you working on?

Weekly win and miss

My win: Choosing to take the “high road” with that situation I mentioned above. Staying calm, grounded, and compassionate even though I wanted to break faces.

My miss: Sleep schedule. Sometimes I stay up late out of the blue, and throw off my momentum of early mornings. Acknowledge, accept, and then act to get back on track.

A resource for you: End of year reflections

This week I am doing my end of year reflections.

How can we build a better future if we don’t reflect on the past?

We can’t.

The quality of our life + the quality of our results = the quality of the questions we ask ourselves.

So, the last couple of years I’ve been experimenting with how to reflect at end of year.

Here’s what I’ve created for us both to try this year:

There are about 3 sections with the best questions I’ve found (so far) to reflect on my year. You can make a copy below.

“The unexamined life is not worth living”

Socrates said that around 2,000+ years ago… and it’s more applicable today than ever.

I mentioned last week how journaling is my most important habit. Other than eating/drinking and sleeping haha.

Reflection has been the greatest contributor to my growth.

Before I was reactive, dysfunctional, and a victim to my own mind.

  • Addicted.
  • Troubled.
  • Helpless.

Every challenge I’ve overcome is a byproduct of my self reflection.

I found answers, solutions, and understanding that broke me free.

My life story should be one of early death, or at the very least self destruction.

This is worth repeating:

The quality of our life + the quality of our results = the quality of the questions we ask ourselves.

Give it a go.

Question or answer – If not now, when?

The only question I have for you this week is:

When are you going to do your end of year reflection?

Reply and let me know… OR reply to this email with a question if you want to be featured on my newsletter and get some 1on1 advice.

In case you missed it: In Saturdays Issue, I covered why life has to be painful… and some simple ways you can use that pain for maximum growth.
