My week so far: Break your glass ceiling
I’m feeling deep today.
Being a human being is funny.
We have this built in governor that is always throttling us.
The glass ceiling.
Ever present… but breakable.
Our ego wants to keep us safe.
It doesn’t know “good” or “bad”.
It knows “familiar” and “unfamiliar”.
That’s why even if we are slowly killing ourselves… we don’t change.
Until we do.
But, in order to change we will have to persist against the internal resistance to stay as we are.
Not everyone wins that battle.
It’s not easy.
We become exposed:
- Fears.
- Limiting beliefs.
- Bad habits.
All designed by our mind to “keep us safe”.
Now we have a choice:
Go back into comfort? A death by a thousand paper cuts.
Move forward into greatness? A death to our old selves.
Either way it’s going to hurt.
Choose your pain.
How’s your week going?
What I am working on
In my personal life: Giving up the safety blanket.
To be someone I’ve never been, and to achieve more… I get to let go of my old ways.
“
When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me.
— 1 Corinthians 13:11 (NIV)
There is no such thing as “something” for “nothing”.
To gain we must give.
It comes with the territory…
I signed up for greatness.
Ain’t no way around it.
To be clear – I’m working on letting go of the ways I’ve tripped myself up, and kept myself small.
And, doubling down on the things that make me my best.
A never ending cycle.
In my professional life: Simple is scalable.
One of my mentors talks about how when building a business it needs to be stupidly simple.
Part of being human is trying to complicate everything. Making things more complex than they need to be.
But in business, that doesn’t work.
When you grow a business it naturally becomes more complex.
Clients, tools, employees, money, challenges, etc.
Simple at scale is complex. As a business grows based on simple strategy it will become complex to run.
Complex at scale is impossible. As a business grows based on complex strategy it will become impossible to run.
All that to say, as I build out my brand and communities I am keeping this top of mind: How can I make it so simple? Not only for me, but for my clients.
- One ideal client – target one type of person. (high achievers)
- One problem – solve one core problem for my clients. (misalignment)
- One offer – sell one type of service. (activation experience)
- One funnel – bring clients in through one entry point. (newsletter)
And so on.
In my financial life: People grow into the conversations around them.
I’ve been making an effort to surround myself with people talking about making money.
- My mentor that owns 2k+ apartments.
- Friends deep into crypto.
- Business owners.
Plus, doing inner work on my beliefs around abundance.
- Journaling.
- Meditation.
- Studies.
We can’t avoid the fact that money is necessary in this world… may as well master it.
Weekly win and miss
My win: Getting back into alignment.
Taking a “time out” so I can regroup… and get back to kicking ass.
Feeling damn good again.
My miss: Getting out of alignment.
After my challenge I hit a wall.
I already shared my lesson of being a marathon runner, versus a sprinter: keeping a more steady pace so I can stay in the race.
My willpower hasn’t been as high – so I was dragging ass a bit.
I snoozed my alarm. I smoked some weed. I played some video games.
Random side note – in Texas they have coffee shops that sell weed?? Funky experience to say the least. My younger stoner self would be stoked.
I’m not perfect… but no one ever said I have to be (besides myself lol).
P.S. From here on out I am going to be even more authentic. I realized trying to posture myself as perfect is dumb… I’m going to share the behind the scenes moving forward even more and publicly document my journey.
A resource for you: Do you have a vision board?
The world is brainwashing us 24/7.
- Social media.
- Music.
- People around us.
On top of that, you were a sponge until you were an adult… soaking up everything in your environment whether good or bad.
What are you doing to brainwash yourself?
Sounds crazy, but I’m serious.
A better life doesn’t happen by accident – it’s something you create.
The best way to stay aligned, and inspired is to make a vision board.
It’s a representation of what you want, where you are going, and who you are becoming.
Here is my template for you to use:
For computer click here.
For phone click here.
I recommend you put it as your background on your phone and computer.
That way it’s always in the back of your mind even if you don’t notice.
Do vision boards work?
I’ve been creating a vision board each year since at least 2018.
In 2022 I had this image on my vision board:
My intention was to run spiritual retreats… but back then I had never been to one, and I had no clue on how I would do that.
Fast forward to 2024:
I’m running multiple spiritual retreats as a trained breath-work and plant medicine facilitator.
Safe to say they work!
You don’t have to know how it will happen, you only have to trust it will happen.
P.S. We have a few more spots for our March Retreat, if you want details book a call here.
Question or answer: How do you stay so motivated?
I had a client ask me how I stay motivated, and what advice I could offer him so he would stay more motivated.
Here’s what I said:
It’s not a motivation problem, it’s a clarity problem.
When we are connected to where we are going, how we are going to get there, and the reason why… motivation comes easy.
Anytime you aren’t “feeling motivated” that means you aren’t clear.
Clear on what you want.
Clear on how to get it.
Clear on why you are doing it all in the first place.
Revisit those things, and I promise you will be motivated.
If you don’t have clarity – check out The G.S.D. System. It will give you everything you need to stay motivated, and making progress towards your goals.
